There Came A Child: Insights into Christian Childcare by Merle Roehr.  AuthorHouse 2010, hardback, 83 pages., $24.49.  Paperback $14.37.

Merle Roehr and his wife Annette, served as houseparents at Manuelito Navajo Children’s Home for nearly 19 years. They have served well over 100 children.  Merle serves as an elder in the church, teaches classes for teens, young families and adults.

He is a man of many talents – photography, author, has a love of the outdoors and animals (working with 4-H for over 16 years) and enjoys gourmet cooking!

This book is full of experiences that Merle has had working with MNCH. This personal memoir is a series of stories and lessons from a man doing “pure and undefiled religion.”

Merle has insights on how to raise children (his own and those at Manuelito) in God’s image. He had dedicated his life to the ministry of raising children.

Merle is an ordinary man that God has used in some extraordinary ways.  From his rural roots, Merle faced the challenges of raising children not his own, did it with grace and talks about it with open honesty.
